This week we have been learning about leaving positive, thoughtful and helpful comments. We worked with Miss Morgan and watched a video about being true and kind online.
Then we talked about how to leave a comment and what we wanted other people to know when they were commenting on our blogs.
We decided to make some animations because we love doing them. We made animations to teach people how to be positive, thoughtful and helpful! We looked at Devran's animation and we really liked how he made a pretend computer screen and blog comment with his two characters!
Have a look and see what you think!
Welcome to Te Māhuri's blog for 2019! Here you will find a range of different information about our school life. Keep your eyes open, subscribe to our blog and leave us comments so that we can share our knowledge with the blogging community!

The Art of Hokusai and Haiku
Here is another of our block prints and haiku both done by Peter.
The haiku says: Japan is so far
away. Little house of wood
the mountain green, white

Japanese Art and Writing in Te Mahuri Tahi
One of our class Paige, is in Japan, before she left she showed us pictures of Japan. We then looked at the art of Hokusai, a famous Japanese artist and made prints like he did of Mt Fuji. We wrote Haiku to go with them. It was tricky counting the syllables but we think our Haiku are really good.
This is Hendrik's, it says:
Lava is so hot
Volcano is erupting

Pink Shirt Day
Today has been Pink Shirt Day. Lots of people wore a pink shirt to school to stand up and celebrate the fact that we are all different. No one is the same as each other and we all have different things that we enjoy or that we dislike, things that we need more help with or something that we're amazing at!
We know that even though someone might look, think or be good at different things to us, it is a positive thing, otherwise our world would be pretty boring! At YMS we're all HEROs and TM2 decided that we thought celebrating the differences in other people would fit into being an Open-Minded Explorer!
How have you been an Open-Minded Explorer this week? Have you celebrated Pink Shirt Day?

Cross Country
Our Cross Country was on Friday and we all were really excited to have a go. Some of us found it really easy but some people found it tricky. The main thing was that we all tried our best and were great Open-Minded Explorers by trying something new!
We had to run 1500m, which is 1.5km!
We started running at the triangle and then had to follow the markers around the big field, down the side of the Wharehui, around the edge of the little field, out past the teachers' cars and then all the way down to the domain, plus all the way back!
We were pretty puffed, but we were all proud of ourselves for trying our best! We have worked really hard to practise our running and build up our stamina to run further than the last time and now we might keep it up by working towards running for a whole marathon over this term with Mrs Dods and Ms Lange!
Have you done your Cross Country run yet? Or are you working hard on something else?

T2W1 CyberSmart
This week for Cybersmart we have been being detectives! We had to find out information about Miss Morgan and her dog Cooper by looking at their blogs.
We had to screenshot and make a list of all the things that we could find out.
Have a look at the slides we made using the information. How else could we have found out about Miss Morgan and Cooper?
Please leave us a comment!
