Cross Country
We had to run 1500m, which is 1.5km!
We started running at the triangle and then had to follow the markers around the big field, down the side of the Wharehui, around the edge of the little field, out past the teachers' cars and then all the way down to the domain, plus all the way back!
We were pretty puffed, but we were all proud of ourselves for trying our best! We have worked really hard to practise our running and build up our stamina to run further than the last time and now we might keep it up by working towards running for a whole marathon over this term with Mrs Dods and Ms Lange!
Have you done your Cross Country run yet? Or are you working hard on something else?

Hi Te Māhuri,
ReplyDeleteGood job to everyone who participated in your school cross country. We did our cross country near the end of Term 1. The Year 3s in our space ran 1km, and the Year 4s ran 1.5km. We had to run around the whole school. Some of us found it quite easy, and some of us found it challenging. It was tiring, but we enjoyed doing it.
We think it's cool that you're working on running a whole marathon! Do the different year levels at your school run different distances like we do?
Yes the year 3 and 4's even get to run around the Yaldhurst Domain as well as the field, but the Year 1 and 2's only run around the field.
DeleteSome of us are pretty excited about the marathon, some of us not as much!! What else do you do for fitness?
Hi Te Mahuri, We have just done our cross country too! It was cool that you got to go around the teachers cars, we had to run 2.4km around Te Kahu Park which is the park across the road from our school. How long did it take you to run your cross country and was it fun? From Kererū Learning Space and Miss Skinner at Wigram Primary School.
ReplyDeleteHi Kererū!
DeleteThat's pretty cool that you get to go outside school! Do you have to be really careful crossing the road? It sounds like it must have been really fun for your school to go around the park but it's a long way! We only had to do 1.5km so 2.4km is nearly a whole 1km extra on our cross country course!
We thought cross country was really awesome and we had some fun running it. We needed to practice hard and we got a bit puffed but we all tried our best. It took us about 10 minutes to run the whole thing, some people did it faster though!
From TM2 :)
