Jump Jam on World Happiness Day

Yesterday was World Happiness Day and Brett from Jump Jam came to school. He did fitness with us and we danced to lots of music.

We danced to the minion version of YMCA, Afro Circus and the Coconut Song.

The best part was listening to the minions and the Afro Circus songs. We made letters with our arms for the YMCA and made chicken beaks with our hands. We also got to play imaginary drums for the Coconut Song and stretch to reach our toes with our hands when we sat down.

We think that it was even better than doing GoNoodle and dancing along to their videos.

Thank you for reading our blog post and please leave us a comment. Tell us what you think of Jump Jam. What is your favourite song to dance to?

Pick A Path Story

We have been writing a Pick a Path story to teach people how to be a YMS HERO at school.

We took something that might happen to us and turned it into a story. There are lots of options you can pick from. Some of them are the bad choices and some of them are the good choices. We should be using the good choices to make sure that everyone is happy and safe in our school.

Sometimes people will get angry, sad or frustrated but it is important that they think before they do or act. If they are feeling grumpy and they don't think, they might end up making the wrong choices.

Have a read of our Pick a Path story and use the links to choose which choice is a good one! Some of these end happily and some end sadly. Please leave us a comment to tell us which one you chose! :)

Hobo Stoves

Hello everyone! We are making Hobo Stoves at school camp so that we can roast some marshmallows and make smores. We have been writing a set of our own instructions. You could test our instructions out and make your own smores!

To make a Hobo Stove you will need:
Dry sticks and leaves
Newspaper
Matches
Large tin
Tin Snips
Nails and a hammer OR a can opener/bottle opener

How to Make a Hobo Stove:
1. Cut eight holes around the middle of the can.
2. Cut a flap at the bottom of the can using the tin snips.
3. Cut the top of the can off.
4. Snap the sticks in small pieces so they fit inside the can. If they don't snap then they are too wet.
5. Scrunch up some newspaper and put it and some leaves inside the can.
6. Put the snapped sticks inside the flap of the can.
7. Light a match and set fire to the leaves, sticks and newspaper.
8. Let it set fire and then slowly put in extra sticks.
9. Roast marshmallows over the fire and make smores.

Thank you for reading our blog. We hope you enjoy your smores - leave us a comment and let us know how your Hobo Stoves worked out!
