Amazing Tapa Cloth Art

This term we have been working on making tapa cloth. Tapa cloths are when you have 6 symbols about things that you care about or you like. Lots of different countries use them, but mostly in the Pacific Islands like Fiji or Samoa. Tapa cloths have lots of unique designs to show different personalities from different cultures.

We picked 6 things that mean something to us and used chalk and oil pastels to create our designs.

Some of us have finished them and they're ready to be dyed but some of us are still working hard on them.

Have a look at the pictures we found on google and compare them to our colourful versions. What is the same and what is different? Leave us a comment :)
