Yesterday we had our school trip to Riccarton Bush House. We have been learning about the history of Christchurch and Canterbury this term and looking at how people lived when they first arrived by boat.

We learned heaps from our amazing tour guides and we even heard about the ghost story! Apparently there is a ghost who is the first owner of the house that lives in the house still. We didn't see it because it was day time but people have seen it before.
We had a great time and Ms Lange researched some victorian time games that we could play and we got to walk around the bush, have a picnic lunch and then came home on the bus.

We had a great time and would totally recommend going for a visit. It was amazing!
They didn't used to have running water or flushing toilets so they had commodes. Bridie is sitting on the commode! The lady who's house it was had it brought over on the ship with her so that she could use the toilet in the bedroom and she had servants who would empty it for her... YUCK!
We had a great time... Have you ever visited Riccarton Bush House before?
